Partnerships with Local Farms and Businesses

Working Together for Change

At The Prep Table, we believe meaningful opportunities begin with meaningful relationships. That's why we're building partnerships with local farms, restaurants, food producers, hospitality organizations, and culinary professionals throughout North Texas. These partnerships provide foster youth with hands-on experiences that connect classroom learning to real-world careers.

Imagine a student spending a Saturday morning alongside a local vegetable farmer, learning how crops are planted, harvested, and delivered to restaurants throughout the community. Another student may shadow a restaurant owner to understand menu planning, food costs, customer service, and the day-to-day realities of operating a successful business. These experiences help youth discover talents and career paths they may never have considered.

Our partners may include family-owned farms, urban agriculture programs, bakeries, restaurants, catering companies, coffee roasters, food trucks, hotels, event venues, grocery retailers, and food distributors. Through internships, apprenticeships, job-shadowing opportunities, and site visits, participants gain exposure to a wide range of careers across the food and hospitality industries.

Beyond technical skills, these partnerships create something equally valuable: relationships. Students have the opportunity to learn directly from business owners, chefs, farmers, hospitality managers, and entrepreneurs who can serve as mentors, role models, and advocates. These connections help build confidence, expand professional networks, and provide guidance as participants prepare for future education and employment opportunities.

Together, our community partners play a vital role in helping foster youth move from uncertainty to opportunity—creating pathways to independence, purpose, and long-term success.
